Information Technology
KDL’s Transportation Management System (TMS) is a web based solution that provides the capabilities to manage all aspects of a transportation network. Through the implementation of a TMS, companies can expect to lower freight budgets on average 5 percent to as high as 25 percent in the first year depending on mode mix and adherence to best practices.
Contract Management
KDL’s TMS is able to handle the most complex contract, allowing our clients peace of mind that the rate returned is as accurate as the information provided. Contracts are routinely updated in the TMS to reflect changes resulting from carrier negotiations to ensure accurate rating.
Carrier Selection
KDL’s TMS allows our customers to rate shop their entire freight program from one source. Our customers no longer have to dig through contracts, or bounce from carrier site to carrier site, or make numerous phone calls in order to attain a proper rate for a move. Results are sorted by cost and transit time, simplifying the choice of carrier.
Bill of Lading Creation
With our TMS customers are able to create electronic bills of lading. Each time a shipment is created, master tables are updated with locations and products for easy recall. Additionally, captured shipment data gives our customers the ability to run queries producing various reports such as a daily freight accrual.
EDI Services - Track & Trace, Tendering, Invoicing
KDL's TMS is capable of sending and receiving freight data directly to the carrier via EDI. This data can be used to schedule pickups, to view a status on a shipment in-transit, or receive invoicing. Passing data electronically creates efficiencies by eliminating manual processes, while removing errors and increasing visibility to in-transit freight.
Invoice Audit & Payment Services
Combining EDI invoicing with the TMS’s contract management allows KDL to consistently and accurately audit our customer’s freight invoices. Anything that is invoiced that does not pass our validation steps, will be individually reviewed and resolved by our accounting group. KDL’s website also offers carriers and clients the ability to easily view information regarding the payment of an invoice.
Modeling
The TMS is able to analyze any type of "what if" scenarios to compare various modes, carriers, rate scales, services and shipping alternatives. KDL can either import data from our customer’s invoice information or be provided ad hoc data samplings to analyze outside of our freight management programs.
Order Consolidation & Mode Optimization
KDL’s TMS will be able to accept a customers order file and automatically consolidate the orders into loads that optimize use of mode. For example, five parcel shipments to the same location could be consolidated to an LTL, or LTL shipments can be consolidated into Truckloads.
